A man and woman have been arrested and charged following a knife incident in Oxfordshire.

The incident happened on Friday 24 April when Thames Valley Police officers spotted a vehicle they were interested in on The Orchard in East Challow, Wantage.

Officers stopped the vehicle and carried out a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act search. They discovered Class A substances, several mobile phones, cash and a knife.

A 40-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of drug supply and possessing an offensive weapon.

The man has been charged with driving without a valid licence, operating a vehicle without insurance and possessing a bladed weapon. He has been released on bail while further inquiries into the drug allegations continue.

The woman has been charged with permitting a vehicle to be driven without insurance and without proper documentation.

Thames Valley Police took to social media on Wednesday 29 April to update residents on the situation.

A police spokesperson said the force was actively targeting drug activity in Wantage and warned that officers would stop and search individuals, seize illegal items and examine evidence including mobile phones, with those involved in criminal activity in the area certain to be caught.
