Oxford Shisha Lounge Slapped with One Star Hygiene Rating

Published on

A shisha establishment in Oxford has received the lowest possible food hygiene score.

Mint Kitchen and Lounge, located on Temple Street in Oxford, was awarded one out of five stars by environmental health inspectors from Oxford City Council during a scheduled inspection.

Officers noted that “major improvement” was required, assigning the establishment the bottom rating.

The primary concern raised during the recent inspection involved food safety management protocols. The procedures designed to guarantee the food served is safe for consumption were judged to need “major improvement.”

Inspectors also identified that upgrades were needed regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of the premises, as well as how food is handled.

The venue offers an extensive menu featuring falafel, koftas, shawarmas, lamb chops, and burgers. Customer reviews on various platforms describe the cuisine as “delicious” and the service as “perfection.”

Shisha pipes are available starting at £15, with premium varieties costing £19.
