Jeremy Clarkson has launched a beer range that is now on tap at an upscale hotel in Stadhampton, just outside Wallingford.

The Hawkstone Premium Lager and IPA have both joined the draught menu at the Crazy Bear venue.

The Hawkstone label, founded by Clarkson in 2021 and based in the Cotswolds, has emerged as the nation’s quickest expanding beer brand.

Andy Cross, Hawkstone’s sales director, noted that the company was built on supporting British agriculture, making it gratifying to have their products stocked at the Crazy Bear. He described the venue as one that values quality, creating an ideal partnership for their brand.

Rob Puffett, general manager of the Crazy Bear, said they were pleased to partner with Hawkstone and bring their range to their countryside pub. He explained that Hawkstone’s commitment to British produce, craftsmanship, excellence and humour fitted well with the Crazy Bear’s ethos.

The Hawkstone IPA secured gold medals at the 2025 World Beer Awards and was crowned England’s champion. The IPA blends superior hops with tropical and citrus notes, balanced by the depth of the malt.

The Hawkstone Premium Lager marks the brewery’s first lager offering, delivering light citrus aromas alongside a malty base. It earned gold honours at the World Beer Awards in 2024.

Taking its name from a Neolithic stone located near Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm and inspired by the Cotswolds scenery, Hawkstone can now be found in more than 1,000 pubs across the country.

Speaking about establishing his Hawkstone Brewery, Clarkson remarked that while the Almighty took six days to make the world, his Hawkstone lager requires 30 days to produce, suggesting his lager is six times better than creation itself.

The Crazy Bear operates as a luxury hotel featuring several eating options, such as its classic English dining room, the recently refurbished Hom Thai restaurant, a terrace area and a traditional rural pub. The venue also runs a sister property in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.
