An Oxfordshire local authority representative has voiced strong concerns about plans to overhaul Witney High Street.

Thomas Ashby has questioned whether narrowing the carriageway is viable, pointing out that the Oxfordshire County Council project has already surpassed its budget allocation.

He noted in an online post that the scheme has overspent by millions of pounds. He expressed worry about how constricted the road will become and whether buses will be able to navigate it, although he indicated time would tell.

The finalised proposals will be showcased at a public consultation event at the Corn Exchange in Witney on April 29, running from 2pm through 7pm.

Building work is set to commence in May and is expected to wrap up in October.
