A traffic stop initiated due to a malfunctioning brake light in Reading resulted in additional discoveries.

Officers from Thames Valley Roads Policing pulled over a car on Basingstoke Road in Reading because one brake light wasn’t working.

Upon further inspection, authorities determined the motorist was an uninsured learner driver not displaying L-plates. Additionally, the individual was operating with an expired provisional licence stemming from a prior driving ban.

A roadside drug test indicating the presence of cannabis prompted PC Payne to conduct a vehicle search.

Officers discovered three bags of cannabis hidden in the driver’s side door pocket. The narcotics had been purchased only moments before the traffic stop occurred.

The driver admitted to spending £60 on the cannabis and expressed regret over the wasted money, inquiring about retrieving the drugs.
