Youngsters have acquired hands-on experience within the hospitality industry, potentially igniting career aspirations among the group.

Pupils aged 14 and 15 from Aureus School visited the Courtyard by Marriott Oxford South establishment to complement their hospitality and catering studies, exploring the inner workings of hotel operations.

The visit provided learners with insights into reception duties, reservation processes, and other fundamental hotel departments.

Santiago Montiero, the venue’s general manager, stated that connecting with young people and fostering ties with their local area holds considerable importance for their property, and they welcomed the opportunity to be involved in this programme.

The hospitality sector revolves around personal interactions, and experiences that help students visualise the industry clearly prove extremely worthwhile, he explained.

A culinary session led by the hotel’s executive chef proved especially impressive.

The young visitors prepared their own dishes, including pizza, wraps, mixed green salads, and chocolate brownies.

They also took part in a conversation about professional routes within hospitality and received certificates recognising their involvement and enthusiasm.

Teachers noted that several pupils expressed genuine interest in hospitality careers following the trip.

Learners from Aureus School plan to return to the hotel during November for its yearly tree lighting event.

This subsequent visit intends to strengthen bonds between the business and the wider community.
