An animal farm on wheels brought happiness to older people living at an Oxford residential care setting.

Green Gates Care Home located on Hernes Road in Oxford welcomed creatures from Farms2ewe, including lambs, a pony, goats, chickens, guinea pigs, and baby chicks that had recently hatched.

Residents and employees alike spent time with the animals throughout the home’s shared rooms and garden areas, taking part in stroking sessions, holding the creatures, and listening to the farmer’s fascinating facts.

Green Gates manager Sharon Lamb explained that spending time with animals holds great importance for the people living there.

Everyone loves embracing the visiting creatures and discovering new information about them.

The happiness and excitement shown throughout the day was unmistakable, creating a truly moving experience.

Many residents reflected on pets they had owned as children and talked about their fondness for animals, with the visit generating giggles and conversation from morning until evening.

Resident Margaret Buchnan shared that this had been the most delightful activity they had ever taken part in.

Relatives and staff members also expressed their excitement about the event.

A relative named Vivienne observed that it was wonderful to watch and touching to see all the participation.

Farms2ewe runs as a family-operated mobile farm business based on the Wessex Downs in the Newbury region.
