A new round of financial support for local environmental initiatives is scheduled to launch in the coming weeks.

Applications for the Nature and Climate Action Fund operated by Vale of White Horse District Council will begin accepting submissions on May 5, with individual projects able to receive as much as £10,000 from the overall £100,000 allocation.

This funding opportunity targets charitable organisations and town or parish councils seeking to implement neighbourhood-level initiatives that tackle climate change and support wildlife restoration throughout the district.

Previously supported ventures encompass the establishment of public electric vehicle charging stations, fitting solar panels, hosting reuse and repair events, conducting energy assessments for community buildings and putting their recommendations into practice, as well as revitalising local woodland areas.

Proposed initiatives must increase community understanding of environmental challenges, motivate residents to take positive steps, and respond to the ongoing reduction in natural habitats.

The application period will shut down at noon on June 29.
