A historical reenactment event is set to take place at Cogges Manor Farm, offering visitors a glimpse into Oxfordshire’s heritage.

The activity, scheduled for Sunday, May 3, at the Witney location, promises an entirely engaging experience suitable for all ages.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore the Anglo-Saxon era alongside Hwitmearum, a reenactment group specializing in early medieval history based in Oxfordshire.

The Dairy Lawn will be converted to showcase period-accurate scenes from that time.

The Vale Islanders will also present performances, transporting audiences to the 1600s through traditional Playford English country dances.

These shows will occur at 11.30am and 1.30pm on the Manor House Lawn.

Live historical music will be performed by The Itinerants, a trio specializing in period instruments who will move throughout the orchard, farmyard, and café courtyard.

Complimentary guided tours of Cogges Manor Farm will run at 12pm and 2pm, covering its development from an Anglo-Saxon settlement to its current state.

Additional attractions include dairy-based butter production, candle creation, tent and sail-making exhibits, and a working steam engine with circular saw demonstration.

Young visitors can craft Victorian peg dolls or Anglo-Saxon style necklaces at the barn courtyard craft station.

Within the Manor House, attendees can observe bread baking, discover Victorian dining customs, participate in historical washing activities, and learn about food preservation methods.

Standard entry fees apply, with complimentary access for those holding annual passes.

The program runs from 10am until 4pm.
