A development has emerged following allegations against a teenager from Oxfordshire who faced accusations involving a suicide vest and links to Islamic State.

The 16-year-old, whose identity is protected, now faces charges related to accumulating weapons, explosive materials, and a self-detonation device at his family’s residence.

Residing in Didcot, he made an appearance at the Central Criminal Court in the capital on Friday, April 24, with proceedings due to commence in January of the upcoming year, though this timeline remains subject to modification.

Additionally, he stands accused of association with Islamic State and is believed to have disseminated the group’s promotional materials concerning attacks, along with recordings depicting combatzone explosions and executions.

Counter-terrorism officers executed a search warrant at his residence on March 12.

The defendant, who embraced Islam during his adolescent years, is reported to have possessed bladed weapons alongside incendiary devices constructed at home.

Seven terrorism-related counts have been lodged against him, encompassing the alleged ownership of a suicide vest.

No pleas were registered during the preliminary court session.

Court documentation indicates that in November of the previous year, he transmitted a recording featuring Islamic State content to an individual, and the subsequent month saw him share a combat footage video originating from the extremist organization.

He is further charged with holding sections from the IS publication Inspire 1, extracts from a guide titled 100 Deadly Skills, a suicide vest, an assortment of blades and swords, and “homemade improvised explosive devices.”

The minor is charged with two counts of distributing terrorist publications, three counts of possessing items for terrorist purposes, and two counts of holding materials potentially useful to terrorists.
