A formal investigation has commenced following the fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

Christopher Mulford, a resident of Wantage, lost his life in the collision on the A417 Reading Road in East Hendred, close to Wantage, at approximately 7:20pm on Thursday, April 9.

According to authorities, the incident involved a silver Volkswagen Golf and a pedestrian. Emergency services were dispatched to the location following a call from South Central Ambulance Service.

The 75-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the site of the crash.

Thames Valley Police confirmed that next of kin have been notified and are receiving assistance from officers specifically trained in family liaison.

The inquiry into the passing of the former livestock assistant was initiated at Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court by Senior Coroner Darren Salter on April 23.

Reports indicate he was attempting to cross the roadway when he was struck by the vehicle. Medical authorities determined multiple injuries were the cause of death.

A comprehensive inquest regarding Mr. Mulford’s passing is scheduled to take place at Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court on October 1 at 10am.

Following his passing, community members shared their memories of Mr. Mulford.

Lucy Dunsdon remarked: “I’m so sorry for your loss. Chris was the kindest man with a heart of gold. He’ll be sadly missed by many.”

Keith Sessions stated: “Chris was a great guy, always remember our chats when he left his day working at the chicken farm or walking the greyhounds. RIP, taken so tragically.
