A trio of individuals will face court proceedings following claims of an assault near an Oxford eatery on New Year’s Day.

Orgito Shahini, residing in Cardwell Crescent, Headington, attended Oxford Crown Court on Thursday, April 23.

The 19-year-old faces a single charge of wounding with intent relating to the incident at Cafe Baba and Bodrum on Cowley Road on New Year’s Day.

Wesley Rangel Da Silva was identified as the person allegedly targeted.

During proceedings, Shahini, who had Albanian language support, entered a plea of not guilty to the charge.

He is scheduled to stand trial on July 6 alongside co-defendants Arber Sparta, aged 22 and living in Cowley Road, Oxford, and Arger Poleshi, aged 20 and currently held at HMP Bullingdon, both facing the same charge.

The co-defendants remain in custody.

Shahini was granted conditional bail, prohibiting any contact with the alleged victim and barring him from visiting Cowley Road.

He was additionally required to appear at St Aldate’s Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
