A defendant has confessed to lighting a fire at Oxford’s main hospital.
Jake Felton, who lives in West Street in Leighton Buzzard, was present at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday, April 23.
The 26-year-old is facing a single count of arson alongside an additional count of racially aggravated harassment connected to an event at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington on November 1, 2024.
Court papers indicate he set ablaze scaffolding situated on the hospital premises.
Felton submitted guilty pleas to both accusations.
Mr. Justice Ian Pringle KC ordered the completion of a pre-sentence report, with the sentencing hearing set for Thursday, May 28.
The accused was awarded unconditional bail.
The presiding judge commented that the case would be adjourned for sentencing purposes, explaining that this timeframe would allow for compilation of a pre-sentence report concerning the defendant, and urging full cooperation with the report’s author.
