An agricultural equipment worker has been arrested in Oxfordshire on suspicion of drink-driving while handling machinery, officials reported.

The person was driving a large John Deere tractor coupled with a heavy farm trailer when apprehended in the Vale of White Horse district on Wednesday evening.

Officers from Thames Valley Police’s road safety unit stopped the vehicle and conducted a breath test on the driver.

Police confirmed the tractor driver’s blood alcohol concentration exceeded three times the legal limit.

A force spokesperson stated that operating any vehicle while intoxicated endangers others whether on public roads or farmland, with agricultural machinery capable of causing catastrophic harm.

The official urged people to avoid consuming alcohol before operating any type of vehicle or equipment.

Earlier that same evening, officers from Thames Valley Police’s roads policing team stopped a car on London Road in Oxford and discovered the driver held neither a current driving licence nor insurance, leading to the vehicle being seized.
