Convicted attacker sentenced for assaulting victims

Published on

A 30-year-old man has received a 10-month prison sentence following a violent attack.

Alex Marshall, who has no permanent address, entered guilty pleas to charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, criminal damage, and beating assault.

The incidents occurred in Carterton on February 10.

Marshall was additionally directed to pay a £187 victim surcharge.

The magistrates stated the offenses were “so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified.”

The court indicated this determination was partly due to Marshall’s “flagrant disregard for people and their property.”

A restraining order was also issued.

Marshall is prohibited from visiting a property on Swinbrook Road in Carterton while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs until April 8, 2028.

The court characterized the matter as “high risk domestic violence.”

Marshall additionally admitted responsibility for causing damage to a door.
