Oxfordshire parents raise alarm over playground behaviour reports

Published on

Alert raised regarding growing number of complaints regarding disruptive conduct at a recreational area adjacent to a recently constructed residential development in southern Oxfordshire.

Thames Valley Police distributed the alert after receiving additional reports of rowdy behaviour at Franklin Playground situated within the newly-built Willowbrook Estate in Didcot.

Local residents have expressed worry over gatherings of teenagers playing amplified music post-sunset, smoking cigarettes, consuming alcoholic beverages and disturbing those living in the vicinity.

PCSO Bethanie Saunders, serving the Didcot and Wallingford community safety unit, is advising community members who encounter disorderly conduct to dial emergency services.

Mothers, fathers and those with custodial responsibility are also being asked to have conversations with young people who remain outdoors after nightfall.

According to her, such conversations may prevent them from engaging in anti-social activities or motivate them to distance themselves from peer groups exhibiting such behaviour.
