The launch date for the fresh Lego store at Oxford’s Westgate shopping centre has been confirmed.

The toy retailer joins the roster of tenants at this city centre venue, which already includes Primark, TK Maxx, and John Lewis.

A spokesperson for Westgate had previously mentioned the shop would open at the beginning of May.

In February, temporary hoardings were erected around the vacant ground-floor unit where the toy company will establish its presence.

The hoardings on display feature the brand’s logo alongside miniature recreations of notable Oxford landmarks constructed from building blocks, including rowers and the Radcliffe Camera at Oxford University.

This will represent Oxfordshire’s first dedicated Lego store, although the company’s products have been available at retailers such as Toys R Us and various supermarkets.

The company maintains locations in Reading, Milton Keynes, Bristol, and London.

The retail outlet is set to open during the current season.

Shweta Munshi, vice president of marketing at the Lego Group, previously said Westgate Oxford offered an ideal setting. She noted the new establishment would give builders across all age groups the opportunity to explore the creative possibilities available through Lego construction. She added that the store would serve as a key destination for product launches and special events while functioning as a gathering point for Lego enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

The unit at Westgate had previously operated as a seasonal shop selling Christmas decorations and gifts.

The space has remained empty since that period and is positioned close to one of the ground-level entrances and exits of the shopping centre.
