An Oxford resident has been acquitted of allegations concerning the downloading of a video depicting a minor engaged in sexual activity with an animal.

Andi Kadiu, who lives at The Grates in Oxford, appeared before Oxford Crown Court to face the charges.

The 36-year-old had pleaded not guilty to two charges of producing category A indecent photographs of a child.

The court heard that the video was present on two mobile phones after being moved during a device transfer.

On Tuesday, April 21, the jury returned a unanimous acquittal for Kadiu.

Trial judge Michael Roques expressed gratitude to the jury panel for their care and attention to the case.

Evidence presented during the case revealed the clip had been stored on Kadiu’s device for several years and lasted 16 seconds.

The court was told the recording showed a naked child outside performing a sexual act with a dog.

In his closing speech, defence lawyer Thomas Davidson argued that the video was only 16 seconds long and had been copied over to a new phone. He stated that Kadiu had nothing to hide and there was no evidence he had ever shared the video with anyone. The lawyer suggested the video may have come from a WhatsApp group. He stated that Kadiu was likely shocked and confused by the situation, and that Kadiu had not downloaded the video and had never viewed it. He argued there was no evidence Kadiu knew the video was on his device. The defence lawyer emphasized that the jury should give the benefit of the doubt to the defendant and pointed out that they could not be certain, noting there was reasonable doubt in the case.
