Three fire crews were called out to tackle a blaze in a residential property’s living room in Oxford, near the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The emergency occurred around midday on Wednesday, April 22, with units dispatched to Headley Way.

A hospital employee spotted the smoke while heading home from work.

He noted that there was currently a domestic fire underway with fire engines positioned on Hedley Way adjacent to the hospital entrance.

Residents in the surrounding area reported being able to smell smoke.

The situation required several hours to bring under control, with firefighters remaining on site until approximately 3:30 in the afternoon.

An Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson stated that they received the call just past noon and dispatched three fire engines to Headley Way in Oxford.

Firefighters used hose reels to extinguish a fire in the living room of a semi-detached house, and a ventilation fan was employed to clear the smoke.
