A person from Oxfordshire has been instructed to pay more than £1,000 after being found to have alcohol in their system at a level more than triple what is legally allowed.

Ethan Carr, who is 25 years old and lives at Woodrush Gardens in Carterton, confessed to being in charge of a BMW M135i while under the influence of drink on Upwood Drive in Carterton on November 8, 2025.

The breath test showed 113 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is set at 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres.

The magistrates decided against banning the individual from driving after deciding that special circumstances applied, citing the very short journey involved. Rather than imposing a driving ban, the court gave 10 penalty points.

The financial penalties included a fine of £956, along with £85 in court fees and a £382 victim surcharge.

The full amount must be settled by May 6, 2026.
