People living in the Headington area are being asked to give their opinions on proposals to change local parking arrangements.

The suggested changes are intended to back the weekly Headington Street Market, which operates every Saturday from 9am until 2pm.

Four existing parking spots located on Kennett Road, London Road, and New High Street will be reserved solely for market traders during market operating hours.

Currently these spaces are temporarily blocked off each week, but Oxfordshire County Council is now seeking to make this arrangement permanent to streamline market management.

Additional plans involve eliminating the current shared-use parking bay close to 45 Gladstone Road, which comes after approval was granted for a new dropped kerb on Gladstone Road.

This area will be changed to No Waiting at Any Time restrictions, shown by double yellow lines, to allow safe access and egress for vehicles along with proper sightlines.

The council is asking for consultation responses to be received by 5pm on Friday, May 8.

Oxfordshire County Council encouraged residents to review the comprehensive details provided for this consultation and take time to complete the survey, noting that input is valuable. The council specified that responses must be submitted by 5pm on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Once the consultation period ends, the council will review all responses collected. If any objections are raised, a document will be compiled for the Cabinet Member for Highway Management.

This public meeting is scheduled for sometime in the latter part of 2026.
