The MasterChef presenter Gregg Wallace is planning to sell his million-pound house and relocate to a more compact property after being sacked from the cooking show, according to media reports.

The 61-year-old revealed he would be listing his home for sale because he can no longer financially sustain his previous standard of living following his departure from the BBC programme.

In comments to The Sun, he said he wished to depart from his large residence and acquire a modest property to give him financial security.

The Daily Mail has additionally reported that Wallace is preparing to sell the million-pound Kent home where he lives with his wife and young son.

His decision follows his removal from MasterChef last year, which came after an investigation into allegations about his conduct during filming.

An independent review commissioned by production firm Banijay upheld more than 40 complaints predominantly related to inappropriate sexual language, jokes, and comments described as culturally insensitive or racist.

Wallace has denied engaging in sexually harassing behaviour and said he was cleared of the most serious and sensational accusations, while offering apologies to anyone he may have caused upset.

He is currently pursuing legal action against the BBC and BBC Studios, claiming he suffered distress and harassment during the handling of his case.

Away from his television career, Wallace has previously appeared as a guest on BBC Radio Oxford’s show presented by Tim Smith, joining comedian Joe Pasquale.

Wallace, who first became known as a London greengrocer and restaurant proprietor before starting on MasterChef in 2005, has said he now plans to spend more time in Italy once his Kent property is sold.
