A global walking football event will bring attention to the cancer that impacts the highest number of male patients.
The Walking Football Festival, organized by Abingdon Almost Athletic Walking Football Club, will collect money for Prostate Cancer UK.
The gathering is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, between 11am and 3pm at Tilsley Park in Abingdon.
All players must be at least 50 years old. Competing teams will feature England 65+ and 70+, Ireland 65+ and 70+, Heart, Cancer, Stroke, Parkinsons England, plus the Welsh Dragons 65+ and 70+.
Prostate cancer strikes one in every eight men, with heightened likelihood for men over 50, men of African descent, and those with relatives who have had the disease.
The event seeks to emphasize the critical nature of early medical screening. The club is collaborating with Prostate Cancer UK and the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust to execute this initiative.
