An Oxfordshire establishment has been praised for its inclusive approach to guests and commitment to LGBTQ+ visitors.
Courtyard by Marriott Oxford South in Abingdon has become the first venue in the area to feature in the World Rainbow Hotels listing, which highlights accommodation options that welcome LGBTQ+ travellers and meet high standards of diversity.
General manager Santiago Montero said the hotel was proud to join the World Rainbow Hotels platform and be recognised for its dedication to inclusivity alongside its Great Place to Work accreditation. He explained that creating a welcoming atmosphere for all guests and employees is central to the hotel’s character.
Inclusion on the platform requires hotels to meet strict criteria, including anti-discrimination rules, equal benefits for same-sex couples, and genuine engagement with the LGBTQ+ community.
Courtyard by Marriott Oxford South was commended for its inclusive working environment.
Staff feedback collected during the certification process showed that 95 percent felt the hotel provided a safe environment, 95 percent said people were treated equally regardless of gender, and 92 percent reported fair treatment regardless of sexual orientation.
Montero observed that the hotel’s culture is built on mutual respect, teamwork and a shared focus on delivering excellent service to guests.
