Oxford locals asked to virtually tour globe to raise funds for hospice

A fresh digital campaign is inviting people to log miles in a virtual journey around the planet while simultaneously gathering vital funds for a local hospice.

The Pace Around the World drive seeks contributions for Katharine House Hospice, which supplies cost-free end-of-life care across the northern reaches of Oxfordshire and the southern areas of Northamptonshire.

Taking place throughout June, the activity welcomes solo participants, commercial enterprises and local groups to jointly travel in excess of 40,000 miles—the full perimeter of Earth—across the space of one month.

Roseann Thompson, the community engagement manager at Katharine House Hospice, said that following the tremendous zeal, dedication and neighbourhood backing that supporters had displayed at earlier occasions, the organisation was delighted to launch this wholly new virtual venture.

The programme focuses on joint involvement and has been crafted to guarantee accessibility for everyone.

Whether participants walk, run, use a wheelchair, cycle or swim, every distance they log moves the overall effort forward while securing important financial contributions for Katharine House Hospice.

It accommodates personal timetables, offers entertainment value, and individuals can take part from any place at their own tempo.

The imagined route—departing from and returning to Katharine House—winds through more than 30 countries and 60 towns, showcasing celebrated attractions like the Eiffel Tower and the Great Wall of China.

The initiative has obtained backing from primary supporter GRAF UK, whose workforce are already mapping out their individual mileage aims.

Callum Vallance-Poole from GRAF UK said the team relishes a challenge, especially when it means gathering resources for their local hospice.
