Two nearby primary schools are set to enhance their outdoor learning offerings following the donation of handmade timber planter boxes from an environmentally-focused housebuilder.

The receptacles were handed over to St Blaise CE Primary School and Sutton Courtenay C of E Primary School, situated close to Greencore Homes’ Milton Heights development named The Canopies.

St Blaise CE Primary School’s headteacher, Becky Costello, said outdoor hands-on learning plays a crucial role in children’s overall growth. Working together outside while connecting with nature builds confidence and encourages curiosity. The planters will provide a wonderful way for pupils to develop beyond regular classroom settings, and the school values Greencore Homes’ generous contribution.

Greencore Homes, known for its environmental commitment, supplied the planters as part of its efforts to support local communities.

Both schools plan to use the containers for gardening activities and environmental education.

Sutton Courtenay C of E Primary School’s headteacher, Raluca Chende, said giving children the chance to grow plants and crops offers a great way to teach sustainable living from an early age. This method helps youngsters understand where food comes from while building ecological awareness. The school anticipates growing its own plants and produce while providing hands-on learning opportunities. The institution is very thankful for Greencore Homes’ backing.
