A hospitality company controlling multiple Oxfordshire drinking establishments has sold off more than 100 sites, company records reveal.

The April 13 filing, accounting for the financial year concluding September 28, 2025, indicates Stonegate Group transferred 109 trading sites, bringing in £74 million from these disposals and other commercial operations.

The business manages over 4,000 bars and nightclubs across the country, including eight properties in Oxfordshire.

Its Oxford sites include the Slug and Lettuce close to Oxford Castle and the City Arms on Cowley Road, while in Banbury it runs Fever, Zinc and Fever on the High Street, and the Dog & Gun on North Bar Street.

The group additionally holds The Lamb Inn on Sheep Street in Bicester, Broadways in Didcot, and the Birdcage Inn in Thame.

The latest financial report indicates turnover fell by £128 million to stand at £1.62 billion, producing a pre-tax deficit of £174 million.

The document detailed the progression of its restructuring initiative amid sector-wide headwinds.

According to the filing, during the financial year, rising operational costs, especially labour expenses, impacted the managed estate’s returns more acutely than the L&T and Craft Union divisions, prompting the business to accelerate transition programmes for sites no longer sustainable as company-operated venues.

After the period examined in these accounts, Stonegate reportedly enlisted restructuring experts FRP Advisory to help with strategic planning.

Further disposals could take place, with the company carrying liabilities of £3.81 billion.
