Pupils from a school in Oxford were given an insider’s look at helicopter policing during a dedicated event.

Youngsters from Church Cowley St James Primary School took part in the Mini Police initiative hosted at RAF Benson.

According to Thames Valley Police, the visit offered children an excellent opportunity to learn about air-based law enforcement activities and the vital responsibilities undertaken by the National Police Air Service.

In a post on social media, Thames Valley Police described the sixth week of Mini Police activities at Church Cowley St James as an incredible experience.

The children were allowed to take pictures of the aircraft and even enter the cabin, providing an engaging and unforgettable experience.

One particular highlight came when those present watched the helicopter up close during its pre-flight checks.

The NPAS facility at RAF Benson operates as one of several sites across England and Wales under the National Police Air Service banner.

RAF Benson in South Oxfordshire delivers rapid support for British armed forces operations worldwide and additionally functions as the base for Thames Valley Air Ambulance.

Church Cowley St James ranks among Oxford’s largest primary schools, with approximately 460 pupils enrolled.
