A resident of Didcot is preparing to take on her 19th straight London Marathon.

Nursing professional Eileen Naughton will run the race to generate support and donations for the charity Children With Cancer UK.

Mrs Naughton maintains employment at the Major Trauma Ward located within the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford while also working on a part-time basis at Chilton Garden Centre.

With a deep commitment to assisting children who have received cancer diagnoses, Ms Naughton’s participation will aid the organization’s efforts to finance crucial research.

Her journey into charitable running began in 2008, and she has since participated in numerous marathons, accumulating over £38,000 in donations for various causes.

The charities benefiting from her efforts include Children With Cancer, the Oxfordshire Oesophageal and Stomach Organisation, and the Meningitis Trust.

Her dedication to running is also driven by personal tragedy.

She gained firsthand understanding of the devastating impact of cancer following her mother’s passing from oesophageal cancer in June 2018.

Mrs Naughton has stated she commenced her preparation in December and has completed in excess of 100 runs, covering more than 588 miles overall.
