A Banbury residential home recently staged events that helped inhabitants reconnect with treasured memories through a horticultural celebration.

Glebefields Care Home commemorated National Garden Day by rejuvenating its outside spaces, with input from residents, personnel and relatives.

The gardening session saw participants clearing unwanted growth from flower beds and introducing colourful seasonal plants, with elevated table planters enabling full involvement from individuals regardless of physical capability.

Home manager Benazir Shakkir said such meaningful pursuits carry significant value. Gardening not only improves outdoor areas, it promotes general wellbeing, stimulates engaging conversation and creates sincere enjoyment for everyone involved. It proved a lovely occasion filled with fresh air and happiness.

The home’s inhabitants enjoyed placing plants into containers at the planting zone.

Team members and those residing there treasured the opportunity to spend time together and swap tales about their personal outdoor spaces.

For many inhabitants, the horticultural work stirred recollections of tending their own gardens, offering emotional solace and therapeutic benefits.

Those living and working at the home are now looking forward to watching their efforts flourish, providing a colourful setting for outdoor gatherings in the weeks ahead.

Barchester Healthcare operates as one of Britain’s largest care providers, offering assistance to older people enabling them to live independently while preserving dignity and respect. With an extensive range of services catering to various care needs, the organisation supports more than 13,500 individuals across 268 establishments, spanning from short-term respite visits to permanent residency.
