New cooling appliances have been positioned at the rear of the Queen Street outlet.

Staff members indicated that the freshly installed black refrigeration systems are serving as a stopgap while maintenance work is carried out on the original cooling machinery.

A specific date has been announced for the unveiling of a fresh M&S foodhall establishment in Abingdon.

Work is progressing at the former Homebase unit situated within Fairacres Retail Park in preparation for the launch.

The retail area spans more than 18,000 square feet and forms part of M&S’s continuing programme of store rotation and renewal.

This fresh development will provide 75 positions, with recruitment already under way.

The retailer has verified that operations will commence on Wednesday, April 22.
