Two new high-tech helicopters were delivered for the National Police Air Service at Airbus Helicopters UK in Oxford.
The National Police Air Service (NPAS) welcomed the arrival of the first two H135 T3H aircraft at Airbus Helicopters UK in Oxford on Tuesday, April 14.
The G-NPAA and G-NPAS aircraft mark a major milestone in its National Fleet Replacement Programme, with seven planned to replace the 20-year-old existing fleet.
G-NPAS will be used in training and certification work before joining the programme in early 2027 while G-NPAA will proceed into modification where it will be equipped for police operations ahead of entering the service in mid-2027.

The new fleet will feature full Night Vision Imaging System capability and a range of advanced technologies to enhance operational effectiveness. These include upgraded daylight, low light and infrared imaging systems.
Inside the aircraft, crews, who completed a structured familiarisation programme earlier this year, including Training Captain flying, will benefit from 3D spatial audio, enhanced video architecture, and 4G/5G.
Emerging technologies could be included later, such as AI assisted detection, weather radar collision avoidance systems, HD air-to-ground and air-to-air data links, ANPR capability and ergonomic workstation layouts.

Ch Supt Fiona Gaffney, NPAS accountable manager, said: “The arrival of these first aircraft marks a significant moment and represents the beginning of the transition to a modern, more capable aviation service.
“This investment will see a dramatic increase in aircraft availability along with major advancements in technology, enabling NPAS to continue to work alongside other aviation assets.
“This programme of investment ensures we can continue to deliver a safe, resilient and effective air support service for policing across England and Wales.”
