A campaigner dedicated to improving British road surfaces has launched a public poll after a cabinet minister experienced a vehicle breakdown in Oxfordshire.

Mark Morrell, popularly referred to as Mr Pothole, has encouraged his online followers to express their views on whether official bodies ought to finally consider his professional knowledge.

He asked: Whether official bodies should finally pay attention to Mr Pothole when it comes to solving Britain’s road damage problems. Following 13 years of investigation and campaigning, he may hold the answers.

Morrell, whose base is in the southwest area of Northamptonshire, has pushed for enhancements to Oxfordshire’s road network for more than a decade.

The rapid survey about potholes appeared after Heidi Alexander hit a large cavity in Oxfordshire, causing damage to two tyres. The inquiry put forward asked whether the administration should finally heed Mr Pothole’s views on tackling Britain’s pothole situation.

Her comments came after an incident where Heidi Alexander, who has held the Transport Secretary position since November 2024, encountered a substantial cavity on the B4437 close to Burford.

This took place in March while she was travelling back with her spouse to her Swindon South constituency after attending a Labour fundraising dinner, which meant her Mini Cooper required lifting onto a recovery vehicle.

Images obtained by The Sun showed her green car being loaded onto an AA breakdown truck after the incident.

She told the newspaper: She joked to her husband that astronauts on Artemis II might have encountered a similar-sized crater during their lunar slingshot manoeuvre the previous week.

Mr Pothole had announced he would be ending his campaign on National Pothole Day in January 2025, yet he continues to draw attention to the issue via social platforms and even supplied advice to Alexander after this latest event.

He mentioned: He had provided her with guidance on how to proceed with making a claim against Oxfordshire.
