Banbury HMO conversion proposal heads for council green light

A five-bedroom residence in Banbury may be transformed into a seven-bedroom House in Multiple Occupation under a fresh proposal put forward.

The scheme to build two pitched roof dormer extensions at the back and rooflights at the front to enable the loft to be used as living space received approval last May.

An application has been lodged with Cherwell District Council, the planning department, to switch the usage of a five-bedroom semi-detached house on Padbury Drive to a seven-bedroom HMO.

The loft conversion work that was previously approved will provide space for the two additional bedrooms and one bathroom.

The home sits 0.3 miles from Banbury railway station and 0.7 miles from Castle Quay shopping centre, and includes a single parking space at the rear.

Although bus stops are located near the property providing good public transport connections, the owner will also supply a folding storage unit capable of holding 10 bicycles, together with a garage at the back of the premises.

The application also includes plans for slight modifications to the interior arrangement, specifically installing individual mailboxes in the ground floor hallway.

According to the plans, the design respects the appearance and character of the neighbourhood and features a video intercom entry system.
