Police have confirmed they are keeping watch over an unauthorised Traveller mobile home situated on grassy land next to a school in the Didcot area.

Thames Valley Police has said it is aware of one caravan along with an associated vehicle parked on Didcot Road, Great Western Park in Harwell, near Didcot.

The unauthorised camp sits on a grassed area beside the road, adjoining the college buildings for UTC Oxfordshire.

Officers from the Didcot Neighbourhood Team indicated they are engaging closely with the council’s Gypsy and Traveller liaison officer, the landowner, and the individuals camped at the site.

They added that UTC Oxfordshire has received notification about the situation as well.

A police spokesperson said the force is continuing to work closely with the council’s Gypsy, Roma and Traveller liaison officer, the property owner, and those living at the site.

At present, the area remains in satisfactory condition. Although several dogs are present on the premises, they are being kept under control and away from public walkways. No local amenities have been affected. UTC Oxfordshire has also been given updates.

The Neighbourhood Team will carry on performing daily patrols to observe the site and address any problems that develop.
