A Budgens location in Oxfordshire has permanently shut its doors following 27 years of operation in a major restructuring.

The establishment in Abingdon situated at Peachcroft retail park ceased trading for the final time on Sunday, April 12, having first opened its doors in 1999.

This store originally launched to take over from the Co-Op that had been serving customers at that location in the years beforehand.

Although the business has now closed, Bradford-headquartered retailer Morrisons will be taking over the premises immediately.

The location will be transformed into one of the supermarket chain’s ‘Daily’ convenience stores and is slated to resume operations on Thursday, April 23.

The Peachcroft location will represent Morrisons’ initial presence in Abingdon. Additional Daily convenience stores have recently launched in Botley, Blackbird Leys, Bicester, Wallingford and Thame.

Morrisons operates full-scale supermarket locations in Banbury and Carterton.
