A teenager from Grove has been arrested following reports of a stabbing in the town.

The incident occurred at around 9:10pm on Thursday, April 2, when two men clashed at Millbrook Square in Grove.

During the confrontation, a man aged between 20 and 29 received a stab wound to his underarm region. He was taken to hospital where he received treatment for injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. He has since been released from hospital.

Police officers detained the 18-year-old local resident on Saturday, April 4, on suspicion of assault by beating, assault causing actual bodily harm, illegal possession of a weapon in a public place, and Section 18 wounding with intent.

In a statement issued on Sunday morning, Thames Valley Police confirmed that the individual has been released on bail until June 24.

Detective Inspector Iain Roberts, the lead investigator, is continuing to appeal to members of the public to provide any information connected to the incident.

According to the officer, he is particularly keen to hear from anyone who has not yet got in touch with police. He urged those with knowledge of the assault to come forward.

He added that those who would rather not speak directly with officers could contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

He acknowledged that such incidents cause worry within the local community and wanted to reassure residents that additional police patrols would be maintained in the area as enquiries continue.

Members of the public with relevant information are being asked to call 101 or submit a report via the online reporting system, quoting reference number 43260161353.
