Oxford City’s football teams brought festive cheer to young patients during a hospital visit on Tuesday, March 31.

Players from both the men’s and women’s squads travelled to Oxford Children’s Hospital, where they handed out chocolate eggs, took part in games, and spent time with children undergoing treatment alongside their families.

Representing the men’s team were Max Metcalfe and Ewan Clark, while Billie Bough-French and Reese Ayers attended on behalf of the women’s squad.

Ewan Clark remarked that it was genuinely lovely to be with all the people there.

The visit proved beneficial not only for the young patients but also for their relatives and the dedicated healthcare workers who left a lasting impact.

He noted that Oxford possesses a valuable specialised children’s unit.

Many families journey from considerable distances to access treatment there, so having such a facility in the local area is commendable.

Hospital staff expressed appreciation for the kind gesture.

Geordia Boodell, a Health Play Specialist working for Oxford Play Services, observed that children see the same nurses and therapists each day, particularly those with lengthy admissions. The footballers dedicating part of their schedules to meet the young patients and distribute gifts and Easter treats was truly touching.

Oxford City FC acknowledged the support of the Co-Op stores in Marston and Swindon, which supplied the Easter eggs that made the visit possible.
