Officers have launched an inquiry following reports that an elderly man allegedly made advances toward a young woman at an art-covered bridge.
The accused approached a teenager who was standing at the Graffiti Bridge on Hitchcock Way in Didcot on Sunday March 29 at approximately 6.30pm.
According to police, he halted his movements, struck up a conversation with her and attempted to kiss her without consent.
A 47-year-old man from Oxford was apprehended on suspicion of sexual assault and released on conditions while investigations proceed.
The investigating officer, Police Constable Davina Gotch of Thames Valley Police, is urging members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or possess any pertinent details to come forward.
According to the officer, she is seeking individuals who either saw the sexual assault occur or possess any details related to the incident to please contact police.
