Oxford hospital death after elderly man suffers head injury

A resident of Oxford passed away in hospital after sustaining a head injury.

The deceased, Shamsul Haque, was a resident of the city. He died at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington on March 27.

Area coroner Nicholas Graham opened an inquest into the 64-year-old’s death at Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court on April 2.

The documentation from the inquest opening stated that Mr Haque was originally from Bangladesh and was not employed at the time of his death.

The inquest was told that he sustained a head injury during a fall on March 18. He was admitted to the hospital, where he passed away on March 27.

The official cause of death was recorded as acute traumatic subdural haemorrhage, occurring as a result of a fall.

The matter has been postponed for a full inquest to be held at Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court on September 7 at 11am.
