Authorities have welcomed the prison term handed down to a narcotics trafficker who concealed heroin and crack cocaine inside aerosol deodorant containers.

Daniel Carruthers, residing in Blue Mountains, Wallingford, received his sentence at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday, March 26.

The 34-year-old was convicted during proceedings last year of having with intent to supply two class A substances, specifically heroin and crack cocaine.

The case stemmed from an occurrence where officers discovered narcotics at a residence on Northfield Road, Headington, on May 29 of the previous year.

Carruthers additionally received sentences for one charge of assault resulting in actual bodily harm, unlawful possession of an offensive weapon in a private setting—a zombie knife—as well as possession of cocaine and cannabis.

He entered guilty pleas to these offenses, which took place in London on April 18, 2022.

PC Joseph Voight, serving with Oxfordshire’s local proactive unit, stated: “This penalty demonstrates the severity of Carruther’s conduct and the damage he was actively causing within our neighborhoods.

He was distributing highly addictive class A narcotics and displayed a readiness to employ violence. The Oxfordshire local proactive team worked unstintingly to compile the evidence required to bring him before the courts, and the outcome delivers a clear indication: we will not accept those who believe they can benefit from taking advantage of vulnerable individuals.

We continue to be dedicated to aggressively pursuing drug suppliers and violent criminals to protect the public.”

Carruthers was sentenced to a combined total of eight years, and orders were issued for the seizure and destruction of the confiscated narcotics and mobile phone.
