A newly refurbished charity shop has begun trading in Summertown.

The Helen & Douglas House charity, which offers support to children with life-limiting conditions and their relatives, revealed its revamped fashion outlet on March 12.

BBC Radio Oxford host Adam Ball officially opened the refreshed premises, which joins the charity’s recently renovated household goods section that relaunched last September and takes up the rest of the structure.

Retail manager Baljit Dhindsa said the team was excited to unveil the revitalised environment, which had been thoughtfully redesigned to create a brighter, more modern shopping atmosphere while preserving their commitment to sustainability.

She explained that the new layout allows them to exhibit an even wider variety of garments and accessories, with improved displays and more floor space for visitors.

They have also enhanced accessibility throughout the premises, including adding another wheelchair-accessible changing cubicle to ensure a comfortable visit for all.

The transformed boutique showcases contemporary urban styling with vintage touches, featuring expanded storage that enables handling increased donations while maintaining systematic arrangement.

Store earnings directly support Helen & Douglas House’s hospice operations across Oxford and in-home patient environments.

Ms Dhindsa continued by saying that spending £5 at their shop could purchase art materials for local children with terminal illnesses to make Mother’s Day cards while at the hospice in Oxford.

She invited people to visit and explore their great selection of clothing and accessories and see the wonderful changes to their store, noting that their spring range had arrived.
