Oxford’s camera enthusiast group has focused its latest competition on the theme of water.

Members were tasked with capturing the concept of water in motion and submitted various photographs featuring rivers, garden settings, and seaside locations.

Although Oxfordshire contains the River Thames and its feeder streams, the region does not have actual beaches. Nevertheless, a number of club participants shared shots displaying oceans and sandy coastlines from overseas and other parts of the country.

The image taken by Julia Johnson-Fry depicting a pair of people having fun by the water’s edge particularly caught our attention and has been chosen as this week’s featured photograph.

With sandy shores accessible within just a few hours by car, additional coastal images are expected to appear once summer arrives and the weather warms up.

Each week, participants in the camera club receive a fresh topic and post their entries to the group’s Facebook page. A selection of these photographs is then featured in our print editions and online. The next assignment on offer is windows.
