A popular establishment in an Oxfordshire hamlet has hit the market with a £545,000 price tag after its leasehold value was slashed by more than 50 percent.

Located in Islip, The Swan Inn has garnered accolades for exceptional service, having secured three AA rosettes alongside its inclusion in the Michelin Guide.

The announcement came in February that the venue would shut its doors permanently on December 31, 2025.

No reason was given for the definitive closure, though it occurred after Michelin-starred chef Paul Welburn departed in February 2025 to establish a fresh enterprise in Cornwall.

Following the shutdown, the premises were listed for purchase via an internet marketplace.

The Swan Inn in Islip has been promoted as a traditional village public house with strong trading figures. Initially, the leasehold was promoted at £95,000. This amount has since been lowered to £45,000, while the freehold carries a £545,000 price plus VAT.

The enterprise is documented as producing yearly takings of £413,000 under beneficial lease terms with no exclusive supplier obligations.

The site comprises a traditional bar seating 20 patrons, together with a pair of dining spaces providing accommodation for 50 guests. The premises boast excellent kitchen and service amenities and feature a sizeable walled terrace garden suitable for another 60 or more visitors.

A representative for the venue stated that the business officially closed on December 31, 2025, apologised for any inconvenience this may cause, and expressed gratitude for the valued custom and support received over the years, noting that it had truly been appreciated.
