ITV announces complete cast lineup for Grace’s sixth season

Published on

The crime series is slated to come back for another run on ITV, with John Simm and Richie Campbell both returning to their respective characters.

Adapted from the bestselling novels by Peter James, the show debuted in 2021 and follows Grace as he solves homicide cases and other criminal matters alongside officers from East Sussex Police in Brighton.

Throughout the previous series, viewers learned that Grace’s supervisor and rival, Assistant Chief Constable Cassian Pewe, was revealed to be a corrupt officer who had been involved in a romantic relationship with Grace’s wife, Sandy, before her disappearance.

Pewe revealed further details about Sandy’s vanishing along with her gambling debts, which had placed her under the influence of the Benchdale OCG criminal network.

The same organisation was still waiting for Sandy to repay a debt, and conveyed a message to Grace through the incarcerated Cassian, warning that they would go after his son, Bruno.

How this intimidation plays out is expected to form part of the new series alongside the regular caseload the team handles.

Speaking about his return as Roy Grace, Simm commented that this marks the longest he has ever been involved with any production.

He noted that performing in the show remains a joy, and having such a talented ensemble around him for extended periods throughout the year makes it impossible to turn down the opportunity.

He expressed enthusiasm about seeing where Roy’s narrative continues in the upcoming instalment.

Campbell similarly shared his excitement about the forthcoming season, stating that the rewarding element for the cast is the annual commitment to pushing themselves further and enhancing their work.

He emphasised that it never feels like merely generating material.

He highlighted that each year brings fresh challenges, with the team consistently striving to surpass previous efforts.

He acknowledged that viewers may grow weary of hearing it, but the cast consistently believes each new season surpasses the last, which he attributes to everyone contributing to the production.

The four upcoming episodes of series six will adapt the novels Left You Dead, Capture You Dead, Dead Man’s Game, and One Of Us Is Dead.
