The following matters were heard at Oxford Magistrates’ Court:

Rory Sharratt, 33, residing in New Barn Avenue, Cheltenham, admitted to driving while under the influence of alcohol along Eynsham Road in Cassington on January 23 of this year. Breath analysis revealed 78 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres. The court imposed financial penalties including £85 in legal costs, a £369 victim surcharge, and a £923 fine. A driving prohibition of 18 months was issued, though this period may be shortened by 18 weeks if an approved course is undertaken before February 21 next year.

Nathan Wilkins, 35, from Cherry Road in Banbury, entered guilty pleas to three shoplifting incidents occurring in Banbury and Chipping Norton between October 21 last year and January 4 this year. The combined value of stolen merchandise exceeded £120. He received an £80 fine and was ordered to provide £320 in compensation.

Rajesh Sharda, 45, living on Marston Road in Marston, Oxford, confessed to four charges of drug driving. Two of these offenses occurred while operating a black Nissan Micra on Barton Fields Road in Oxford on October 29 last year. The remaining two took place while driving a Vauxhall Astra along Marston Road in Marston on December 7 last year. Financial penalties included £85 costs, an £80 victim surcharge, and a £200 fine. A 24-month driving ban was imposed.

Elroy Meade, 45, from Sandpiper Lane in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, admitted to one count of drug driving. This occurred while he was at the wheel of a Nissan Qashqai on the M40 motorway close to Banbury on October 2 last year. He was ordered to pay £85 costs, a £48 victim surcharge, and a £120 fine, with a 12-month driving prohibition.

Anthony Baker, 63, residing at The Chestnuts in Charlton, pleaded guilty to drink driving. He was caught driving a Citroen Picasso along Wallingford Street in Wantage on August 22 last year with 86 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The court ordered payment of £85 costs, a £48 victim surcharge, and a £120 fine. He received a 20-month driving ban, reducible by 20 weeks upon completion of a course by April 7 next year.

John Collier-Jones, 41, from Parkers Hill in Tetsworth near Thame, admitted to possessing cannabis, a class B controlled substance, in Thame on May 31 last year. He was ordered to pay £85 costs, a £93 victim surcharge, and a £233 fine. The seized cannabis was ordered to be destroyed.

Brian Watkins, 59, from Nettlecombe Close in Sutton, pleaded guilty to drug driving in a white Man scaffolding lorry. This occurred on the A34 northbound carriageway at Hinksey Interchange on May 14 last year. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £320 fine, with a three-year driving ban imposed.
