A recreational venue in West Oxfordshire is preparing to welcome visitors again after a period of closure.

The mini golf attraction, snack counter, and skate zone situated at Courtside at the Hub in Witney were shuttered while groundwork and access improvements took place. These developments were intended to complement the nearing-completion The Leys project.

Building work began on February 23, with February 22 being the last opportunity for members of the public to use the amenities.

The improvement scheme incorporated fresh pathways built to accommodate wheelchair users, shared seating zones, ping pong provisions, and planting.

These changes now strengthen the links between leisure areas and Courtside at the Hub while creating a more welcoming environment along the main pathway.

Witney Town Council announced that the skate facility at The Leys has reopened, coinciding with a try-out day event on Saturday, March 28.

The activities on offer included football provided by Witney Vikings, woodworking sessions hosted by Against The Grain, amateur boxing, balance bike skill demonstrations, trampolining sessions organized by YouMove, and hot chocolate provided by The Station.

Thames Valley Police stated that these activities were collaborative in nature, and while they assisted with coordination, the events were not solely a police-led initiative.

The activity was described as a try-out day, during which various organizations would come together to encourage young people to try a variety of activities such as football, boxing, and woodworking.
