Pupils from a primary school in West Oxfordshire have been named winners of the Oxfordshire County Rugby competition.
Children from Witney Community Primary School travelled to Radley College near Abingdon to take part in the championship finals.
The team won the Witney competition, triumphed at the West Oxfordshire event, and on Wednesday completed an unbeaten season to secure the county championship, described as an exceptional accomplishment.
Headteacher Mark Peacey stated that the children had made everyone tremendously proud. He thanked parents who had driven the teams and provided enthusiastic support. He also expressed gratitude to Mrs Hanson and Mrs Moss for their organisation, encouragement and vocal backing of the pupils.
Mrs Hanson received special mention for giving up so much of her own time to coach the children and for her substantial contributions to athletics at the school.
Mrs Hanson commented that she felt overwhelmed with emotion and pride about what the pupils had achieved.
She added that the accomplishment required teamwork, dedication, focus, determination and resilience throughout.
Leafield Primary School deserved special recognition for offering such strong support during the semi-final and final matches.
