A sustainable housebuilding company has partnered with the UK’s largest energy provider to develop eight homes free from electricity costs in the Launton district near Bicester.

Greencore Homes, which has earned numerous sector accolades, has joined forces with Octopus Energy to deliver eight residences featuring zero utility charges at its forthcoming development in Launton, situated close to Bicester.

These dwellings incorporate solar panels, heat pump installations and smart energy management systems, providing 10 megawatt-hours of free electricity annually.

Occupants will pay nothing for domestic energy usage, apart from electric vehicle charging, for a minimum of ten years, cutting yearly energy costs by exceeding £2,350.

Octopus Energy has formed an alliance with Greencore Homes for this 65-home venture in Launton.

The scheme sits on a 5.8-acre plot adjacent to the historic village of Launton. The first homes on Station Road are expected to be finished by autumn 2026.

The development includes 65 houses available in two, three and four-bedroom configurations, built using natural construction materials to reduce embodied carbon and attain overall net energy balance across the complete development.

Laura Stone, chief operating officer at Greencore Homes, said the company aims not merely to erect new houses but to define what eco-friendly and Better Than Net Zero existence should look like in Britain.

Octopus Energy launched its innovative smart tariff in 2022, allowing buyers to move into homes fitted with advanced green technology and benefit from free energy for up to ten years.
