Despite three weeks passing since a fire damaged a 5G mast and created major road congestion on the A40 in Oxford, police have still not apprehended anyone.

Around 8:45pm on March 5, people broke into part of a 5G installation near Cutteslowe Roundabout.

An unidentified substance was then used to start the fire.

Fire crews arrived at the scene. After assessing the possible causes of the blaze, they concluded it was likely deliberate, which led them to notify Thames Valley Police.

No one was injured in the incident.

Detective sergeant Lisa Jones from Oxford’s criminal investigations division stated that officers are carrying out an extensive inquiry and have launched multiple lines of questioning to determine what occurred.

She asked anyone who saw something or holds information that could help the investigation to get in touch with police.

A force representative confirmed on Thursday morning that no one has been detained and no formal charges have been brought.

With the A40 shut, Oxfordshire County Council eliminated the toll for drivers using Marston Ferry Road the following day, March 6.

This meant those travelling through the Marston Ferry Road checkpoint that morning faced no charge, and anyone who had paid in advance would be given their money back.
